Face Shield

Due the recent COVID-19 pandemic outbreak that causes shortages in medical supplies for both medical personnel around the country and the public that do not have access to these supplies. Our good friend and printing supplier, Songpol Press had ask us to help donating the design of the face shield to be produced and distribute to the people and hospitals in rural areas throughout Thailand.

The face shield was designed for efficient logistics. It was made mostly out of paper, so it is light and can be used 1–2 times. Usually, face shields are plain and similar to each other, so we design both the structure and the graphics on the mask that are colorful to lift up the moods and cheer up hopes in the front field.

We use paper as the structure to reduce plastic waste. Along with the PET plastic for the window area that can be easily removed and very safe to use. The face shield design itself is user-oriented. We design a box to be placed on the forehead position by adopting the box folding method into the design. This makes it easy and quick for users to fold the forehead guard box and also improve the sturdiness of the face shield. The forehead guard box also giving the distance between the face and the shield just right for those who are wearing glasses and aren’t.

Moreover, this face shield design comes with graphics art that will inspire others to contribute by designing inspirational artworks to cheer up medical workers or supporting financially. Therefore, we believe that this design serves as one of the drives that push forward cooperations among people and community.

Introduction

Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly
discovered coronavirus. It is mainly transmitted among person through droplets when the infected person coughs, sneezes, or exhales. These droplets flow in the air for a certain distance, and quickly drop on the ground. Social distance or physical distance is an intervention during COVID-19. By increasing the physical space between people, it is likely to reduce spreading illness. It creates the new normal for a living since Covid-19 started.

This artwork interprets how social distancing impact to our society and raise awareness for the new normal living.

Due to unavailability of COVID-19 vaccine at the moment, one of non-
pharmaceutical measure to prevent the virus is social distancing. The facts below are considered.

– Facing different angle
– Keeping space among people
– Wearing face mask to protect from breathing in airborne virus

From above facts, the artwork was created by applying ovals and circles to simplify
people wearing a face mask, standing or walking on the top view. The artwork consists with 360 ovals, or 360 people, rotated in different 360 degrees. Each oval has its own angle which isn’t repeat any others and has their own safe spacing boundary as same as the way how to keep social distancing.

COVID-19 is a global issue in five continents. Therefore, this artwork was created
with five colors, blue yellow black green and red, to represent diversity for people from all five continents in this world. These five colors’ tone were inspired from the Olympic Ring’s color in 2020 in order to honor the Olympic Game which should held in this year. All in all, the elements were arranged to appear to be moving like the spreading virus.

In the current world without COVID-19 vaccine, people need to protect themselves from infecting the virus from others. Likewise, the infected patients need to avoid themselves for not to spreading the virus to the others. Living in distance with different normal will help the mankind keeping their journey. It can make a difference.

Reading human thoughts is a complex matter when we look at someone that we

we meet a lot of people we do not know what the people has encountered until we get to see somebody’s true colors. Therefore we cannot judge people from the outside. Because of your real characters anyone don’t know what he be done that many times we judge others for their actions only once which we may look at only one side and then decide.

The reasons why people judge anyone from outside because most people use the unconscious mind and instincts to consider first to judge more than using consciousness judgment is the reasoning.

Introduction

This research project focuses on the physical development of visual artworks. Through
research methods to search for patterns or new artistic language as a creative work. The content of the work in the project is to aim at opening up the perspective of awareness and understanding of people. Upon looking at the social issues of adolescents that are known as rash/berserk youths “Dek Vant” and “Dek Skoi” through entertainment activities with body movements in the form of dancing. Looking at issues as marginalized people with perception through this creative work wherein is considered as a tool to communicate with people in the society to stimulate their minds to review from various perspectives.

The perception of information through a database of various types of platforms via
digital media does not only responsible for awareness and understanding but can also reproduce the information received and endlessly relay to others. Therefore, the fact-finding process is very important and necessary for understanding various information that poured in quickly. One of the major effects of information recognition through modern social media is the expression of opinions which everyone can express freely. For this incidence, if commenters are aware of the various perspectives and do not lead themselves into the situation that is a part of the problem thus the “Hate Speech Communication” will not occur. If people judge others through memories and criticize the image and activities without understanding and do not accept the differences through the form of satirical and mocked language via social media with one’s own prejudice, it may result in commenters being a part of creating conflicts

The Royal Institute has published a new word “Dek Vant” in dictionary and defined its meaning as “teenage boys who like to speed up the motorcycle to make a loud noise” which comes from the sound of a modified motorcycle exhaust pipe including the accelerating sound caused by the engine while trying to escape the police. And has given the definition of “Dek Skoy” as teenage girls who paddle the boy’s motorcycle in caressing manners. If talking about “Dek Vant” and “Dek Skoy”, we often hear negative news both on television and social media such as riding motorcycles at high speed which created noise pollution and seized public roads for speed racing. This caused troubles to people who travelled on public ways and in combination with other negative issues, these problems have been existed in Thai society for a long time. Through the memories of the project creator, about 25 years ago (1994) every Saturday and Sunday from 24.00 hrs. in Bangkok capital city, on Vibhavadi Road from Din Daeng intersection heading to the 1st Infantry Regiment there were usually speed races competition for teenagers of those days – as we call them “Dek Vant” and “Dek Skoy” right now. However, presently, as time goes by, progress has taken place in society, technology as well as communications had deterred all races in the aforementioned area as used to be in the past. But these issues has not disappeared from the Thai society just shuffled from Bangkok to the perimeter areas such as Chonburi, Samut Songkhram, Pathum Thani, Chachoengsao and other provinces.

Nowadays, aside from the only speed racing culture, the entertainment activities of “Dek Vant” and “Dek Skoy” have been developed in a well-organized manner. There are beautiful car contest, models contest including transgender. They also organized a concert to participate in the activities held. This change has been adjusted to suit the tastes of city people to the margins. The entertainment of these youths is flowing and changing according to the social context and the surroundings of that perimeter. In addition, they try to establish the scope of their entertainment activities under the terms of the law. If taking a glance at specific characteristics of the activities that entertain “Dek Vant” and “Dek Skoy” such as speed racing on the racetrack (in the event that a request to use the area is legal), partaking music and the expression of taste through their costumes, it could be seen that the basic entertainment of this group of teens does not differ from general people. Nonetheless, with the technology of social media that comes into contact with people’s lives has rendered information and news to spread rapidly including news about activities of “Dek Vant” and “Dek Skoy”. The image and entertainment activities of “Dek Vant” and “Dek Skoy” have been expanded and reproduced without limits. We cannot deny that these activities are considered as marginal cultural products of Thai society. But by looking through the field of images of people through social media, the audience is like a god who is ready to judge his sight and arouse criticisms both through their own perspectives and many people conform to the mainstream people who comment. By attitudes of the watchers, the arisen problem is considered as the freedom of expression through bias. “The teens that are being watched” are the staid targets of criticism both in terms of image and activity. People who Looked through prejudice and criticized by their own feelings that what they had seen were wrong and different from themselves, therefore, the onlookers assumed that they had the power to be ready to judge others. This creative work is the achievement of events that occurred in the social media world in the culture of looking at adolescents, which are called ”Dek Vant” and “Dek Skoy” the are reinterpreted through physical manipulation and time in the image area to present a view of possibilities from the chaotic situation in the digital media era for the audience to confront, watch and incur new interpretations with their own experiences. Looking at and understanding this difference the researcher hopes to stimulate the common sense of seeing the differences of humans living together in society. Freedom of the bodies of “Dek Vant” and “Dek Skoy” through the melodies of dance in the ”Heartbeat” series in the creative research project of (Perception of visual culture – through the entertainment activities of subculture street racing) tend to be a tool to ask questions to people’s perceptions and their understanding of things that are going on in society.

The process that occurs in the creation of a series. “Heartbeat, 2020”. It is a result of
Research Field. Data obtained from in-depth interviews In order to understand issues related to visual culture. In looking at the entertainment activities of the entertainment activities of subculture street racing with discernment. Do not use precepts or prior understanding in judging behavior. The result of data synthesis Understanding of issues. Developing to the visual image of Video Installation.
