Everything will be scattered to the wind

A design is a process of pursuing the unknown and inner harmony, with a specific outcome expected to satisfy an objective that can be functional, socio-political, aesthetic, or purely for commercial usage in doing promotion. Design is about improvements and making things and the lifestyle better. Due to this pandemic since 2020, we all human beings have to rethink that it is time for us to return to our original purity and have a simplicity of lifestyle.
Did we pause and think about whether we treat all other living things and nature sincerely, did we deal with them with our sincere minds?
Under this year theme “ Clear Design” I would like to call on the viewer to spend a minute to think about whether it is time for you to be back to the basics.

I have designed and painted three paintings by aquarelle as watercolor is a traditional medium which has been in use for many centuries, the flaw of art is created by hand, and it will not be perfect, just like our life, there is no turn back. These three paintings are in a sequence to reveal the three different levels of human beings: Soul & spirit, mind & heart, and body.
These three paintings when appearing in front of the viewer, however, each of the paintings will fade off gradually to show that we human beings if without thinking much about the future, appreciate and gratify what we have in our lives, all will be clean off.
The first painting is about soul & spirit. It was a buddha with a full-color background, as there will not be the second piece in this world that will have the same flaw, it symbolizes that we are indulging in a life of luxury and materialism, we need to control our mindset and have ethnical awareness.
The second painting is about the mind and heart. It was a little boy holding a fish, he was smiling and treating the fish as a pet, without thinking about whether the fish is able to live when away from the water; symbolizes that we are easy to have desires. we need to have the ability to manage and control and subtract our desires.
The third painting is about the physical body. It was a cyclist who started his day with the early morning sun. It symbolizes it is our responsibility to take care of our physical health. Health is an extremely precious treasure. Otherwise, it may bring physical and mental exhaustion and trigger various challenges in life.

Giant’s Valley, The Last Vacation, The Attack of the urns!,
The Long Journey Home, Run for your life

Lee Milner

Introduction

1. Giant’s Valley
An ongoing series of images, following the ‘Wanderer’ as He navigates a strange world unlike ours. He’s an explorer that has to overcome many hurdles along His journey. This image is when He first sets eyes on the Giant in an opening in the jungle. What next?

2. The Last Vacation
A second look at the image shows a more sinister side. To the right of the illustration, you can see a wolf in waiting. The family are on vacation in the cabin, which looks to be surrounded by nothing but wilderness. As the title suggests, this may not be as relaxing as you first think!

3. The Attack of the urns!
Artwork for a computer game intro. The Urns that contain souls of the dead, suddenly turn on their family and the chaos ensues. The game and artwork were both created in PlayStation’s Dreams game.

4. The Long Journey Home
This image shows the pilot seeing His home planet for the first time in years as They have been off exploring other worlds. Still a long journey to go!

5. Run for your life
This image is a game concept idea I had about a side scroller level, where you need to escape various creatures while jumping obstacles and avoiding traps.

Conclusion

The artworks prove that art can be created with almost every tool. The illustrations were created
using a games console. Game art and concept art is usually created using traditional tools and
applications, but to create it using a game in itself is truly inspiring.

Objectives Aims or Purposes

To create a feeling of mystery and storytelling form single images. The hope here is to create
more questions than answers. Let the viewer fill in the story for themselves.

Process or Methods

Using elements of VR and move controllers, the image is created using Media Molecule’s
software ‘Dreams’.

Techniques and materials

Digital Illustrations using a PlayStation and Move controllers.

Mobile application 3D AR coloring Book

La Min Khin / Myanmar

About

In the era of technology, most of our traditions, cultures are fading along with modern
technology.
Hidden Culture: magic coloring book is the culture based technology product. Fusing
Myanmar traditional toys with Augmented Reality (AR) technology to bring back culture to
modern days.
Being able to create an entertaining and educational books not only requires a visually
stimulating content but also means for the children and students to interact, create, and express
themselves.
Inside the product, we present a new type of mixed-reality book experience, which
augments an educational coloring book with user-generated three dimensional content. This
changes the appearance of the book content from normal coloring book.
Users can color the pages of the book, while scanning the pages with installed mobile
application, the system recognizes each pages and the various color used by the users, and
directly maps the colored end results to virtual pop-up 3D models and scenes.

The package contain not just an AR Coloring book but also comes together with well-
packed color pencils and extra stickers. The user can start coloring without worrying about

buying additional color pencils.
As a creative director for this project, I decided to design the physical product to grasp the
overall traditional aesthetic. Back in 1970-80, folded palm leaves boxes were very popular in
Myanmar for keeping items and clothing. This is where the idea came out for the packaging
design of Hidden Culture.
The desire to experiment each outcomes for the color that you made and to be able to
learn new knowledge through in a fun way together, those are the pure sub-conscious
desirability moments for the users to be experienced in life.

Process or Methods

Technology is Art, and Art is Technology and allows for a free flow state without expectations, preconceptions of what the piece should be, only expression perchance to create something with the uniqueness of the self. Painting to Virtual Reality

Painting to Virtual Reality

Debbi Saccomanno Chan / USA

Introduction

my last years before deciding to buy an Oculus/Rift were spent submerged in Chinese in art and culture. I wanted my Traditional Chinese style to be a signature style so I began painting in free style and gong bi or detail on the same painting and I expanded my subjects to almost anything.

Conclusion

From creating this work of art Make the artist realize the importance of the environment and the viewpoint of living as a human being only part of the world. Caring for wildlife, air, water and environment.

Objectives Aims or Purposes

Getting into storytelling and painting in jumbo albums and scrolls was what I spent my time working until one Christmas about 4 years ago I managed to buy an Oculus/Rift and gaming computer. I was hooked. 10 plus hours a day. But the Chinese traditional style stayed only now it was in virtual reality.

Process or Methods

I have continued to follow the same Canons and teachings of my traditional painting on silk or rice paper but now I am closer to the Chinese perspective of having the viewer in the painting instead of looking in. VR is perfect for this. I can make use of my deep relief carving so that I am almost carving my VR paintings.

Techniques and materials

Virtual Reality Painting on Oculus Quill. I paint using the Quill App and there is nothing really fancy. I generally use one brush and one layer just as I would on my traditional. I blend color or apply it on top of each other as I would on a gong bi painting on finished rice paper. I use my training in deep relief carving as well so that I am carving the painting.
